Obituary of Causey Simmons
Causey L. Simmons Sr.
Chesapeake ‘ Causey Lionel Simmons Sr., 85, of the 400 Block of Etheridge Rd., died Saturday, September 17, 2005. Mr. Simmons was born in Old Norfolk County to the late Bessie Virginia and Benjamin Causey Simmons. He was a WWII veteran having served in the US Army. Mr. Simmons was an active member of Mt. Pleasant UMC, the Fentress Vol. Fire Department, Station 6 and the Great Bridge Food Closet, which held a special place in his heart.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Simmons; daughters, Dorothy Lewis and husband Daniel of Gambrills, MD, and Virginia ‘Ginny’ Summers of Norfolk; son, C.L. ‘Sonny’ Simmons Jr, of Chesapeake; sisters, Shirley Hackworth and Beverly Gwynn, both of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Michael and wife Waverly, Karen, Bill and wife Lesley, and Theresa; great grandson, Alex.
Graveside services will be held at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens on Tuesday at 2:00pm with Rev. Lary R. Blodgett, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends at Twiford’s Colonial Chapel, Chesapeake on Monday from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm. Memorial donations can be made to the Mt. Pleasant UMC Building Fund.
