Obituary of Thomas D. Cowell, Jr.

Thomas D. Cowell, Jr., 78, of 1003 Tuscarora Avenue, Elizabeth City, NC died Thursday, September 22, 2005, in the Albemarle Hospital. Mr. Cowell was born in Elizabeth City, NC to the late Thomas D. Cowell, Sr. and the late Mary Lou Munden Cowell and was the widower of the late Doris Gard Burgess Cowell. He was a retired civil service employee, a member of Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church and was an alumnus of U. N. C., Chapel Hill. Mr. Cowell is survived by two step-sons, Bill Burgess and wife Anne, of Virginia Beach, VA, and Bob Burgess and wife Debbie, of Kitty Hawk, NC; two step grandchildren, Elizabeth and Michael. A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, September 28, 2005, at 2:00 pm in the Twiford Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, by the Rev. F. Joe Griffith.
