Obituary of John M. Geddie

John Marcus Geddie, 63, USCG (RET.) Petty Officer First Class (DC1) of 1403 River Road, Elizabeth City, NC, died Thursday September 22, 2005 at his residence. Mr. Geddie was born December 15, 1941, in Robeson County, Lumberton, NC and was the son of Margaret Jones Geddie and the late James Davis Geddie. He was a former newspaper carrier for the Elizabeth City Daily Advance. Survivors included his mother Margaret Jones Geddie of McColl, SC, one son Jonathan Geddie of Raleigh, NC, two daughters Donna Rackley of Greenville, NC, and Tammy Sawyer and her husband Johnny of Elizabeth City, NC, two brothers Larry D. Geddie of McColl, SC and Frank J. Geddie of Florence, SC, one sister Sue G. Wilson of Matthews, NC, former wife Sandra C. Geddie of Elizabeth City, NC, special friend Janet Agar of Elizabeth City, NC, and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His son-in-law Tony Rackley preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P. M. Sunday September 25, 2005, at the Wings of Faith Aviation Memorial Chapel at the Elizabeth City Coast Guard Base with Navy Chaplin LT. Rob Heckathorne officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at the Roselawn Cemetery in McColl, SC. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service.
