Obituary of William Sexton

William A. Sexton PIPESTEM, W.Va. William Arthur Sexton, 62, of the Hill Top area of Pipestem, died Sept. 26, 2005, at his residence surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Sexton was born Sept. 28, 1942, in Elizabeth City, N.C. He was the son of the late William Henry Sexton and Daniel and Margaret Ferrell Ballance. He was retired after 30 years with Ford Motor Co., where he was employed as a trim specialist and worked on the launch team. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Cheryl Elaine Morris. He resided in Elizabeth City for 32 years, then moved to Hampton Roads for 29 years and retired in Pipestem. He served in the U.S. Army for three years. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Beverly Sue Dent Sexton; son, Richard Morris and fiancee Kim of Portsmouth; and his daughter, Michelle Carawan and husband Tommy of Virginia Beach. He was the “proudest” Grand to Jessica, Melissa, TJ and Brittany Carawan, Leslie, Hailey and Ashley Morris. He also had a special dog “Pepper.” He had one brother, Lindsay Sexton of Norfolk; two sisters, Pat White and husband Joe and Vickie Nixon and husband Billy, all of Elizabeth City; two brothers-in-law, Jim Dent and wife Jennifer of Princeton and Wayne Dent and wife Vickie of Bluefield. He also had several special nephews and nieces and his extended family with the Pettry Church of Christ. A funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in Twiford’s Colonial Chapel, 929 Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake. Entombment will follow in Princess Anne Memorial Park Cemetery on Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, with military honors. The family will receive friends Friday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
