Obituary of Gregory B. Alker

KILL DEVIL HILLS, NC GREGORY BRYANT ALKER, 45, of Kill Devil Hills, NC died Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at the Outer Banks Hospital, Nags Head, NC. Mr. Alker was a past president of the Dare County Jaycees, past chairman of the Mariner’s Club Drive, ‘Old Mariner’, Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the First Flight Rotary Club. He was President of Planter’s Mortgage and was a longtime employee of Planter’s National Bank before entering the mortgage business. He was an avid University of Virginia fan and an avid Grateful Dead fan. Mr. Alker is survived by his wife, Sheriee Hatton Alker and a daughter, Katy Summer Alker, both of the residence. He is also survived by his parents, Warren and Elizabeth Hughes of Richmond, VA. A Memorial service will be held at St. Andrews By The Sea Episcopal Church on Monday, October 3, 2005 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Charles E.B. Gill officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930 B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834, or to the ‘Summer Alker College Fund’, c/o Gateway Bank, 3600 Croatan Hwy., Kitty Hawk, NC 27949. Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo is assisting the family with arrangements.
