Obituary of James A. Brothers

James Alexander Brothers, 93, of 347 Acorn Hill Road, Sunbury, NC died at his residence Sunday, October 2, 2005. He was born in the Newland Section of Pasquotank County to the late Joe J. and Mary Ellen Williams Brothers. Mr. Brothers was a retired sales agent for Exxon, a member of the Newland United Methodist Church and a member of the New Lebanon #314 AF & AM. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Pierce Brothers of the home, one daughter, Karen B. Beddow of Dallas, Texas; a step daughter, Gail Hobbs and husband, Jerry of Sunbury, NC; a son, James Michael Brothers and wife, Rita, of Newport News, VA; two sisters, Alice Whitehurst of Elizabeth City, NC and Mary B. Shipp of Chesapeake, VA; three grandchildren, Robin Lucus and husband, Wayne, of Newport News, VA, Dianne Mickey and husband, Robert, of Hobbsville, NC and Janet Batts and husband, Don, of Winterville, NC; five great grandchildren. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, October 8, 2005, at 11:00am in the Newland United Methodist Church by Revs. Toni Wood and Forrest Guthrie. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to Newland United Methodist Church General Fund, % J. C.
