Obituary of Joseph Temple

Elizabeth City, NC Joseph Cortez Temple, Sr., age 71, of 1390 Upriver Road, Elizabeth City, NC, died Wednesday, October 5, 2005, in the Albemarle Hospital. He was a native of Pasquotank County, NC, son of the late Deronda Cortez Temple and Eula Granger Temple, and husband of the late Onita Copeland Temple. He was retired from the Ford Motor Company and was member of Ramoth Gilead Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Southside Hunting Club, Ryland Hunting Club, and Sunbury Hunting Club. Mr. Temple is survived by two daughters, Betty Swain and her husband Mark, and Hope Hooks, all of Elizabeth City, NC; two sons, Joseph Temple, Jr. and a special friend, Judy White of Sunbury, NC, Alvin Temple and his wife Michele of Elizabeth City, NC, a special son and brother, Francis Temple and his wife Ethel of Elizabeth City, NC; one sister, Lucy Hudson of Elizabeth City, NC; four brothers, Cecil Temple of Elizabeth City, NC, Henry Temple of MS, Ethelbert Temple of Belvidere, NC, and Ed Temple of Chesapeake, VA; seven grandchildren, Amy Rosenberger and her husband, Joe, Vickie Barco and her husband Jim, Justin and Megan Hooks, Doug Abare, Chris Swain, and Whitney Powers, a great grandson, Oliver Barco, and a special friend, Mary Ellen Casper of Hobbsville, NC. He was predeceased by three sisters, Minnie Sanders, Mamie Albertson, and Sue Moore; two brothers, James and Deronda Temple. A funeral service will be Sunday, October 9, 2005 at 3:00 PM in the Happy Home Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Henry Pillow and Rev. Chuck Davis officiating.
