Obituary of Joseph Stone, Jr.

NS STONE Corapeake, NC Joseph H. ‘Sonny’ Stone, Jr., 67, of Adam Loop, Corapeake, NC, died Saturday, October 8, 2005 at his residence. Born in Wake County, NC, he was the son of the late Joseph H. Stone, Sr. and the late Mina Jordan Stone, and the husband of Cheryl Steen Stone of the residence. Mr. Stone was retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard, and a member of Calvary Independent Baptist Church in Sunbury, NC. He had served in the National Guard, and the U.S. Army Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel. Besides his wife, Mr. Stone is survived by: two daughters, Teresa Clary of Suffolk, VA and Pamela Stone of Elizabeth City, NC; one son Andrew Anderson of Dillwyn, VA; one sister Betty Winslow of Moravian Falls, NC; and four grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at 2:00 PM in Twiford’s Northside Chapel, 1115 N. Road Street, Elizabeth City, NC, with the Rev. Cecil Tiller officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
