Obituary of Erma Meads
Erma Leona Meads, 83, arrived here on October 15, 2005. She joins her husband, Richard Calvin, her parents, John C. and Maggie W. Baccus, her sisters, Ruby and Lessie, her brothers, Odell, Lindsey, Adrian and Marvin, and her grandson, Christopher Neil, here in their heavenly home.
She patiently awaits the arrival of her children and their spouses, Betty and Joe Meiggs, Geri and Wayne Owens of Elizabeth City, Darlene and Mike Rogerson of Hertford, Debbie and Gary Thompson of Washington, NC, Dickie and Sylvia Meads of Tarboro, NC, and Danny and Sharon Meads of Richmond, VA, her grandchildren Tracy and Myron Hofler, Dawn and Jon Alexander, Jonny and Christie Owens, Dena and Adam Richardson, Jenni and James Harris, Richie and Greta Meads, Jocelyn and Graham Davis, Ashlea Meads, Janus Rogerson, Gregory, Stefan and Mary Catherine Thompson, Elizabeth, Chris and Leah Meads, her great-grandchildren, Christopher Boyce, Caleb Richardson, Trent Owens, Billy Strathearn, Jakob Harris, Rebecca and Austin Hofler and soon to be born Justin Richardson. Also, her sisters, Phyllis Mansfield of Elizabeth City and Pauline White of Vienna, VA, her brothers Gilbert and Aubrey Baccus of Hertford, her faithful caregivers, Joyce Frost and Tama Spellman, and many other family members, friends and neighbors.
While on earth, she was a faithful wife, godly mother and gifted cake decorator. She loved growing flowers, especially roses.
She was a member of the Woodville Pentecostal Holiness Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a faithful prayer warrior, and because of her prayers, many people are in heaven and widows have been protected.
A celebration of her homecoming will be held on Tuesday, October 18, at 2:00 PM at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church Street, with the Rev. Danny Meads, Rev. Gary Thompson and Rev. Tony Klepper officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Elizabeth City. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM Monday evening at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Geri Owens, 2205 Shady Drive, Elizabeth City, NC.
