Obituary of Dolcia Byrd

Dolcia B. ‘Dot’ Byrd, 88, of Gaston Drive, Elizabeth City, NC and a former resident of Lincolnton, NC died Sunday October 16, 2005 at the Guardian Care Nursing Home. Mrs. Byrd was born January 25, 1917 in McDowell County, NC and was the daughter of the late Sage Byrd and Minnie Dennie Byrd. She was a member of the Lincolnton First Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of V. F. W. Post # 1706. Survivors include three sons; James Leonard Byrd, Jr., Jackie Lee Byrd and his wife Totty all of Houston, TX; and Dennis Wayne Bryd and his wife Kim of Elizabeth City, NC; two sisters; Louise B. McFalls of Marion, NC and Maude B. Drum of Lincolnton, NC; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A memorial service will be held Tuesday October 18, 2005 at 4:30 P. M. at the Twiford Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC with Rev. Glenn Greenway officiating. A memorial service will also be held on Thursday, October 20, 2005 at 11:00 A. M. at the Warlick Funeral Home, 125 Dave Warlick Drive, Lincolnton, NC with Rev. Bob Cantwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Hollybrook Cemetery in Lincolnton, NC. The family will join friends Tuesday following the memorial service in Elizabeth City, and from 10:00 A. M. until the funeral hour on Thursday at Warlick Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church, 214 Pleasant Gardens Road, Marion, NC 28752.
