Obituary of Violet Cahoon

Violet Spruill Cahoon, 66, died Thursday, October 20, 2005 at her residence. Mrs. Cahoon was born in East Lake and was a retired secretary for the County of Dare. She was a member of the East Lake Holiness Church. Mrs. Cahoon was the daughter of Minnie Taft Spruill of East Lake and the late Joseph Nathaniel Spruill and was the wife of Norman LeRoy Cahoon of the home. Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Tina C. Burgess of East Lake; four sons, Buddy Cahoon of Stumpy Point, Wilbur Cahoon and Loubet Cahoon, both of East Lake and Barry Cahoon of Manns Harbor; three sisters, Alma Lee Spruill and Diane Wilson, both of Manteo and Marian Spruill of East Lake; one brother, Tommy Spruill of Gum Neck; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild. A Celebration of Life will be held at Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo, on Saturday, October 22, 2005 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Anthony Ralph officiating. Burial will take place in the East Lake Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 21, 2005 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Twiford’s Funeral Home, Manteo. Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo, is assisting the family with these arrangements.
