Obituary of Edla W. Foreman
Edla Walker Foreman, 82, of 311 West Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, died Thursday, October 20, 2005 at Albemarle Hospital. Mrs. Foreman was born in Pasquotank County, the daughter of the late Dr. Herbert Dillon and Augusta Kramer Walker. For fifty-nine years, she was married to John Wood Foreman and will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Foreman is survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Foreman; three daughters, Nancy F. Silver and husband Winkie of Wanchese, NC, Sophie F. Jordan and husband Danny of Aydlett, NC, and Edla F. Stevens and husband Bill of Elizabeth City, NC; a son, John W. Foreman, Jr. and wife Beth of Elizabeth City, NC; ten grandchildren, Beau, Mollie, Dillon, and Duncan Silver; Caroline and Walker Jordan; Anna and Bradham Stevens; Wood and Sarah Foreman; and a devoted friend of forty- two years, Queenie James.
Mrs. Foreman was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church. A memorial service will be held at the church, Monday October 24, 2005 at 11:00 am with Rev. Fredricka Steenstra and Rev. Josh MacKenzie officiating. A private burial will be held later in the memorial garden. The family will receive friends following the service in the Parish House and at other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pasquotank Arts Council, P.O. Box 11, Elizabeth City, NC 27907; Christ Episcopal Church, 200 South McMorrine Street, Elizabeth City, NC 27909; or the Pasquotank-Camden Library, 205 East Main Street, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
