Obituary of John Benjamin Joyner

JOHN BENJAMIN (J.B.) JOYNER, 82, died October 21, 2005 at Chesapeake General Hospital. Mr. Joyner was born in Pitt County, the youngest son of the late Harry Reid and Rosa Lee Joyner. He lived in Greenville, N.C. until 2001 when he moved to Manteo to live with his daughter. He is preceded in death by his wife Jean Tucker Joyner; his brothers Carlton and Beverly.
Mr. Joyner was a graduate of Greenville High School and served as a Corporal in the 71st U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was a ground school instructor at Stallings Serv-Air School for more than five years. Later, he was a salesman for various companies until his retirement. He will remembered by his favorite hobbies cooking, building models and aviation.
He is survived by his daughter Beverly J. Parker of Manteo, two sons, Ben Joyner and wife Sandy of Nags Head and Harold Joyner of Tallahassee, FL; his grandchildren, Catherine, Amanda and Tucker; a step-grandson, Adrian Parker, his wife Bethan and their children, Jessie Ethan, Molly and Andrew, all of Elizabeth City, N.C.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 25, 2005, at 3:30 p.m. in Homestead Memorial Park in Greenville, N.C. by the Rev. Hugh Burlington. Friends may join the family at Twiford’s Funeral Home, Monday, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to a charity’s of one’s choice. Twiford’s Colony Chapel Manteo is assisting the family.
