Obituary of George Jackson

Ocracoke, NC George Guthrie Jackson, 83, of Ocracoke and Elizabeth City, NC, died Friday, October 21, 2005 in Ocracoke. He was born in Ocracoke to the late George W. and Metta O’Neal Jackson and was reitred from the NCDOT Ferry Division. Mr. Jackson was member of the Ocracoke United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Clara Styron Jackson of the residence; two sons, James W. Jackson, Sr. and wife Linda of Ocracoke and Eugene M. Jackson and wife Sandra of Greenville, NC; a brother, Nathaniel Jackson of Ocracoke; a step sister, Ellen Robinson of Ocracoke; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, October 24, 2005 at 2:00 PM at the Ocracoke United Methodist Church by the Rev. Joyce Reynolds. Burial will be in the Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence. Twiford’s Island Chapel, Hatteras, NC is in charge of arrangements.
