Obituary of Coston Sawyer

Mr. ‘C. L.’ Coston Larry Sawyer, age 89, of 1609 Caddy Drive, Elizabeth City, NC, died Sunday, November 6, 2005 at the Albemarle Hospital. Mr. Sawyer, a native of Camden County, NC, was the son of the late Coston Staples Sawyer and Emily Staples Sawyer and the husband of Dorothy Mae Williams Sawyer of the residence. Mr. Sawyer was the founder of Sawyer’s House of Furniture. He was a member of Berea Baptist Church, a US Navy Veteran of WW II, the founder and a member of the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 295, Hall Masonic Lodge # 53 AF & AM and a member of the Sudan Shriners. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Larry Sawyer, and wife Joyce, of Southern Shores, NC; a sister, Vivian Hodges of Lincolnton, NC; two brothers, Ambrose Sawyer and William Sawyer both of Elizabeth City, NC; three grandchildren, Eric Sawyer, Jan Jones, Jil Stowe; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at 2:00 pm in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 Each Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC with the Rev. Glenn Greenway officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
