Obituary of Walter Daniels
Walter Edward Daniels, 73, of 2003 Johnson Road, Elizabeth City, NC, died Monday, November 7, 2005 at Albemarle Hospital. He was born in Parrott, GA, the son of the late Hoke Smith and Ophi Brightwell Daniels and was the husband of Connie Toler Daniels of the residence. Mr. Daniels served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 20 years and retired as a 1st class store keeper, he also, retired from A.R.S.C. of civil service after 20 years, and served on the Board of Directors for the E.C.C.G. Credit Union. Mr. Daniels was a devoted member of the Pasquotank County Ruritan Club, and was Ruritan of the year in 1996-1998.
Besides his wife Mr. Daniels is survived by three daughters, Brenda Austin of Saco, ME, Janice Morgan of Hrundell, ME, and Kalani Daniels of Hawaii; a son, Billy Daniels of Preque Isle, ME; two step sons, Glenn Steeley and wife Ann of Camden, NC, and Steve Steeley and wife Carla of South Mills, NC; a sister, Joyce McCrary of Americus, GA; a brother, Billy E. Daniels of Bloomingdale, GA; six grandchildren, five step grandchildren, Ryan Steeley, Kristin Steeley, Jay Perry, Ashlee Steeley, and Angie Winfree, and a great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Daniels.
A graveside service will be held Friday, November 11, 2005 at 10:00 am in West Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. David Moehring officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday evening from 7:00 until 8:00 and at other times at the residence.
