James ‘Jim Boy’ Brinson
Native of Pasquotank County
James ‘Jim Boy’ Brinson, Sr., age 81, of 308 Brite Avenue, Elizabeth City, NC, died Tuesday, November 15, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Brinson, a native of Pasquotank County, was the son of the late James Monroe Brinson and Margaret Forbes Brinson and the husband of Mary Roughton Brinson of the residence. He was a U.S. Army-Air Corps Veteran of WW II, a member of Fountain of Life Church and was a retired Aircraft Mechanic and had been a substitute teacher at Northeastern High School
Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, James Leslie Brinson, Jr., and wife Cindy, Robert David Brinson and wife Kay all of Elizabeth City, NC, and Steven Joseph Brinson of Lenoir, NC; two step-sons, William D. Lilly and Brian K. Lilly and wife Donna all of Elizabeth City, NC; four grand- children, Linwood ‘Linny’ Brinson, Magen B. King and husband Robert, Lindsay B. Bundy and husband Daniel, and Whitney Brinson and her fiance Steven Wellbrock; three step grandchildren, Brian K. Lilly, Jr., ‘B.J.’, Benjamin Allen Lilly, and Allen Michael Lilly; two great grandchildren, Kayla Wellbrock and Steven Wellbrock, Jr. He was predeceased by his loving first wife, Charlotte T. Brinson; sisters, Charlotte Love Brinson Lane Godfrey and Vivian Fay Daveiro; brothers, Hubert C. Brinson and George W. ‘Biggie’ Brinson; and step-son, Michael W. Lilly.
A funeral service will be Thursday, November 17, 2005 at 1:00 PM at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. F. Joe Griffith and the Rev. Bill Mayo officiating. Entombment will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the lobby of the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
