Obituary of Stanley Lugar
Stanley B. Lugar
Virginia Beach – Stanley B. Lugar, 61, of Princess Anne County, died unexpectedly Thanksgiving morning of a heart attack.
Nicknamed Deannie Boy, he grew up hunting and fishing with his uncle Melvin in the fields and creeks of Back Bay. After graduating Princess Anne High School he went to work at Ford Motor Company, where he dedicated 42 years of his life to supporting his family, developing friendships and meeting his lovely wife Sandy.
On his farm in Blackwater, he spent most of his free time in the fields he loved. An avid builder and backyard mechanic, you could always find him under a truck…a FORD truck. He spent much of his time building his house, his barn, fences and a shed to keep his FORD tractor.
He was happiest taking care of his various animals, including his favorite dogs Jack and JC. The only one who could keep him from work was his beloved granddaughter Jackalyn.
He will always be remembered as a compassionate husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend.
Left to cherish his memory, is his wife, Sandy Lugar; his mother, Evelyn Smith; uncle, Melvin Strawhand; his children, Stan, Laura and Will Lugar; Lisa Larion; and Cynthia Fillio; grandchildren, Jackalin, Aidan, J.R. and Deanna; brothers, Larry and Bud Smith and sister Carol; and many nephews, cousins and his extensive Ford family. Stan was preceded in death by his sister Judy Dunn and special daughter Kayla Fensom.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00pm at Twiford’s Colonial Chapel, Chesapeake with Pastor Greg Hammer officiating. Burial will follow at Charity Neck UMC Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 7:00 until 8:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Blackwater Volunteer Rescue Squad, 6009 Blackwater Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23457 or any charity of your choice.
