Obituary of John Henry McDonald

EC McDONALD Elizabeth City, NC John Henry McDonald, 78, of 883 Horseshoe Road, Elizabeth City, NC died Saturday, November 26, 2005, at his residence. Mr. McDonald was born December 8, 1926 in Pasquotank County. He was a member of the Ramoth Gilead Baptist Church, veteran of the U. S. Army, and a retired assembly line employee with Ford Motor Company. Survivors include: his wife Geneva Sawyer McDonald; sons Russell McDonald and his wife Mary Anne of Wheaton, MD and Frank McDonald and his wife Cheryl of Elizabeth City, NC; daughters Ellena M. Oglesby and her husband Daniel of Greenville, NC, Gaye M. Cunningham, Mandy L. McDonald and Genny M. Luff and her husband Kyle all of Elizabeth City, NC; brother Talmadge McDonald of St. Louis, MO; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his mother Polly Ann Jones Mc Donald; two sons C. B. McDonald, and Barry McDonald; one daughter Polly McDonald; a great-granddaughter Mayson Luff; six brothers and one sister. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2005, at 10:30 AM at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel in Elizabeth City with Rev. Nathan Rush and Rev. Glenn Greenway officiating. Burial will be in New Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of his son and daughter-in-law Frank and Cheryl McDonald, 884 Horseshoe Road, Elizabeth City, NC, and immediately following the funeral service in the funeral home lobby.
