Obituary of Joseph Riffle

EC Riffle Joseph Bruce Riffle Native of Hagerstown, MD Mr. Joseph Bruce Riffle, age 87, of 133 Pendleton Lane, Elizabeth City, NC, died Sunday, December 4, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Riffle, a native of Hagerstown, MD, was the son of the late William L. Riffle and Bessie Liday Riffle and the husband of Marie Landis Riffle of the residence. He was retired from the U. S. Coast Guard, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Weeksville Lion’s Club, the Chief Petty Officers Association, America Legion Post 14 in Hanover, PA, the William Clarence Jackson VFW Post #6060, and the Dixie Anglers. Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, JoAnne R. Whitfield of Westminster, MD, and Bonita R. Currey of Middletown, MD; a son Edward Eugene Riffle of Washington, NC; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grand- children; and four great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, John William Riffle. A funeral service will be Thursday, December 8, 2005, at 11:00 AM at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
