Obituary of Karl Morton
Karl O. Morton Sr.
Chesapeake ‘ Karl Okey Morton Sr., 70, died Friday, December 9, 2005. Mr. Morton was born in Widen, WV to the late Okey and Columbia Giviens Morton. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy for 31 years and obtaining the rank of Petty Officer , 1st Class. During his naval career he served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam and had worked as a deep sea diver for 16 years. Upon retiring, Mr. Morton worked as a maintenance engineer for a large property management group and as a volunteer E.M.T. for the Chesapeake Beach Voluntary Fire and Rescue Squad, where he later retired as an honorary captain.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Carol Morton; daughter, Carolyn S. Morton-Brooker and husband Robert of Virginia Beach; sons, Karl Okey Morton II of Virginia Beach, Ronald B. Morton and wife Regina of Chesapeake, and John Morton and wife Mary of Chesapeake; sisters, Jincy Rouse and Peggy Miller of WV; and thirteen grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday at Twiford’s Colonial Chapel, Chesapeake from 7:00 until 8:30 pm. A celebration of Mr. Morton’s life will be held on Thursday at 2:00pm. Friends will be invited to share their favorite memories of Mr. Morton. Military honors will follow.
