Obituary of Julia Highsmith

Nags Head, NC Julia Phillips Highsmith, 81, died Sunday, December 11, 2005 at the Albemarle Hospital. Mrs. Highsmith was born in Pinetops, NC and was a retired sales clerk in a retail store. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Bertha Weeks Phillips and was the widow of Rudolph George Highsmith. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Baines of Dare County; two sisters, Hilda Williamson of Mt. Holly, NC and Margaret Hammock of Lexington, KY; two grandchildren; Lisa Thurman and husband Danny and Amy Lawrence, all of Dare County; six great-grandchildren; Chelsea, Taylor, Halie, Jessica, Becca and Jenna. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wesley Hospitality House, P.O. Box 2712, Elizabeth City, NC 27906-2712. Twiford’s Funeral Home, Manteo, is assisting the family with these arrangements.
