Obituary of Linda Hastings

EC HASTINGS Elizabeth City, NC Linda Secrist Hastings, 62, of 2039 Nixonton Road, Elizabeth City, NC, died at Albemarle Hospital on Saturday, December 17, 2005. Born in Rock Bridge County, Buena Vista, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Letcher and Audrey Marie Simpson Secrist, and the wife of Scott Hastings of the residence. She was retired as a teacher in the Camden Public Schools, and a member of the Elizabeth City Church of Christ. Besides her husband Mrs. Hastings is survived by: one son Peter Bruce Hastings of Elizabeth City, NC; four sisters, Ernestine Malzeik of Cleveland, Ohio, Nancy Winerth of Pensacola, Fla., Betty McGowan of Buena Vista, VA, and Amanda O. Rear of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Bill Secrist of Las Vegas, NV, and Carlos Secrist of Lanexa, VA. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one sister Loretta Griffith, and one brother Buddy Secrist. A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, January 29, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the Elizabeth City Church of Christ with Greg Biggs officiating.
