Obituary of Robert Cook
Duck, NC-Robert Milton Cook, 86, long-time resident of Northern Virginia and a marketing specialist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture
In Washington, DC, died December 26, of congestive heart failure.
After Cook retired from USDA, he and his wife, Dorathy Holmes Cook, moved to Duck in 1992.
A decorated Staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, Cook served in World War II receiving a Victory Ribbon and Good Conduct medal. He was with USDA 31 years directing cattle, sheep and bee marketing producting programs. He received his Bachelor of Science at Texas A&M in 1947.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Jenifer Tran, her husband Dave and two great-grandchildren, Brittanie and Brianna, all of Dumfries, VA. Also, a nephew Richard Holmes and his wife, Maria, of Georgia, and two nieces, Mary McAndrews of Carrollton, TX, and Linda Knappenberger of St. Paul, MN. His wife, Dorathy, preceded him in death in 2004.
A celebration of life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., January 21, at the Cook home in Duck, NC.
