Obituary of Zora Gaskins

Ocracoke, NC Zora Bable Gaskins, 76, died Monday, December 15 at his home in Ocracoke. A native of Ocracoke, he was the son of the late George Mathais and Iola O’Neal Gaskins. Mr. Gaskins was a member of Ocracoke United Methodist Church and owned several rental cottages in Ocracoke. Mr. Gaskins is survived by his wife, Mable Mutro Gaskins of the residence and a daughter, Valerie Mason and husband Kenneth P. Mason, Jr of Ocracoke. Mr. Gaskins is also survived by a step-daughter, Candy Gaskill, also of Ocracoke, two sisters, Euphemia Farrow Ennis of Wilmington, Delaware and Cora Louise Burrus of Hookerton, NC. Left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Kayla Mason, Preston Mathais Mason, and Aidan Zorabable Mason along with with several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the O’Neal-Gaskins Family Cemetery on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 1:00 pm. In addition to flowers, memorial donations can be made to Community Home Care and Hospice of Engelhard, NC or the Ocracoke EMS. The family would like to express their appreciation to their dear friends, Ward and Linda Garrish and their thanks to Dr. John Kihm for his care.
