Michael A. Budd
Chesapeake ‘ Michael Anthony Budd, 53,died September 6th in Cebu City, Philippines. He was born in Passaic, N.J. and was a disabled Navy veteran. He had numerous Medals and Citations for his service including his heroic saving of lives aboard the USS Belknap when it was involved in a collision at sea with the USS Kennedy.
Michael was a member of Great Bridge Baptist Church, a graduate of Great Bridge High School and had received a BS from Canisius College of Buffalo, N.Y.
Michael was predeceased by his brother, Russell James Budd. He is survived by his father Albert A. Budd and wife Geraldine of Chesapeake, VA; his mother Elaine J. Deloge and husband Robert of Pinellas Park, FL; three sisters, Lynn B. Murphy and husband Roger, of Palm Harbor, FL, Janet B. Levai of St. Petersburg, FL; and Susan L. Pollard and husband Michael of Denver, CO; three brothers, Thomas A. Budd and wife Carol of Portsmouth, VA, Jerry W. Snow and wife Jackie of Chesapeake, VA and Mark A. Budd of Chesapeake, VA; three nieces, Nicole Whipple of Palm Harbor, FL, Kelly A. Budd of Hoboken, NJ, and Laura A. Budd of Portsmouth, VA; two nephews, Blaise Levai of St. Petersburg, FL and Wesley Snow of Virginia Beach, VA; aunt Delores Mitchell and husband James of Englewood Cliffs, N.J.; devoted fiance, Josephine Sulit and her family of Cebu City, Philippines.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 18 at 2:00 pm at Twiford Colonial Chapel with Rev. Charles Mosley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. The burial will be private.
