Obituary of Aubrey Snowden
Aubrey Earl Snowden, 89 of 779 Bell's Island Road, Currituck, NC died Tuesday, December 23 at his residence. A Currituck native, he was the son of the late Clayton Earl Snowden and Florence Cramer Snowden and the husband of the late Elizabeth Hubbard Snowden. He served in the US Merchant Marine during World War II and then worked for 57 years as a commercial electrician specializing in electric motors. He founded Kwik Electric Motor Sales in Elizabeth City in 1973. He was raised on Currituck Sound and worked as a commercial fisherman and hunting guide and maintained a love for waterfowl his entire life.
He is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Morgan and husband Les of Currituck, NC and Rita Saunders and husband Steve of Maple, NC; a son, Jack Cox and wife Alberta of Camden, NC; three grandchildren, Stephanie Smith and husband Bobby of Kill Devil Hills, NC, Nicole Derby of Aydlett, NC and Chris Saunders and wife Jenny of Apex, NC; and five great grandchildren, Zoe Smith, Josiah Derby, Jeremiah Derby, Chloe Derby, and Jonah Derby.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Rehoboth Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Thigpen officiating and with military honors provided by William Clarence Jackson VFW Post #6060. Burial will be in Snowden Cemetery.
