Obituary of Mary Gaskins

Mary Elizabeth Bundy Gaskins, 91, of 1405 Warden Street, Elizabeth City, NC died October 6th at her residence. She was born in Elizabeth City, NC. She was the daughter of Shirley Elizabeth Morris and Joshua Warren Bundy. Mrs. Gaskins was preceded in death by her husband James Gaither Gaskins. Mrs. Gaskins is survived by three daughters, Sandra Onley and husband Buddy of Elizabeth City, NC, Debra Gardner and husband Jeff of Port Washington, OH and Cathy McDaniels of Port Washington, OH; two sons, James Gaskins, Jr. and wife Sherry and John Gaskins all of Elizabeth City. She has nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. She is survived by one sister, Gloria Fountain of Elizabeth City, NC. She was preceded in death by two half-sisters, Gracie White and Ethel Ballance of Elizabeth City and five brothers, Charlie Bundy of Creswell, NC, and Earl, Joshua Jr., Alton and Wilton Bundy of Elizabeth City, NC. Mrs. Gaskins was known as Sister to all her siblings. She was a loving mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A special thanks to Community Hospice and her caregivers, Nona Self, Angela Shanks, Miranda Whitley, Raven Wynn and especially her granddaughter, Kellie Stokeley. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel. The family will receive family and friends Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
