Obituary of Yvonne Marie Strachan

STRACHAN (Digout), Yvonne Marie - 72, Mulgrave, died peacefully in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston, on Tuesday, May 17, 2005. Born in St. Peter's, she was the daughter of Sarah (Burke) Digout, Richmond Villa, St. Peter's, and the late Dr. Joe Digout. She was a retired school teacher and a member of St. Lawrence Parish, Mulgrave. Yvonne was a devoted, compassionate and fair teacher, having taught in Mulgrave for 35 years, during which time her love of music led her and her students to many music festivals where they competed successfully. Yvonne's musical talent was shared with St. Lawrence Parish choir of which she and Gillis were members, and where she was organist. She is survived by brother, Daniel (Carmy) and their daughters Angela (Lorne), Jolene (Kevin) and Sara; cousins, Father Harry and Freddie (Josie) Meade, Stanley (Monica) McPhee and their families; sister-in-law, Sister Imelda Strachan, CND; brother-in-law, Pat Maher. She was predeceased by her husband, Gillis; sister, Claire Maher. Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday in Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Father Peter McLeod officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Reception to follow. Family flowers only please.
