Obituary of Thomas Johnson Amos
AMOS, Thomas Johnson - 84, Hadleyville, Guysborough Co., died Monday, October 24, 2005, in Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Born in Little Shemogue, N.B., he was a son of the late James and Emma (Scott) Amos. Thomas was a retired truck driver employed with the former Everett Kennedy Fisheries, and in his early years he was a farmer and fisherman. He was a member of Hadleyville United Church. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the 125th AA Battery Royal Canadian Army; also with the Cape Breton Highlanders serving in Goose Bay, Labrador, North Atlantic Area, United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He is survived by his wife, the former Stella Scott; daughters, Leona (Russell Hache), Lower Sackville; Hilda (Stephen) Murphy, Liverpool; grandchildren, Telena, Lauren; several nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by brothers, Norman, Ford, Fred, and Hubert.
Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday in Hadleyville United Church, Rev. Wilfred Pelley officiating. Burial will be in Hadleyville Cemetery. Donations in memory of Thomas may be made to the Guysborough Memorial Hospital or Hadleyville United Church.
