Obituary of Lloyd Alexander Urquhart
Lloyd Alexander Urquhart 84 of Port Hawkesbury died Monday January 12, 2004 in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in St. George's Channel he was a son of the late Robert and Catherine “Cassie” (MacPherson ) Urquhart.
He operated Superline Fuels and the bulk plant for Petro Fina after the second World War. He was a retired water treatment operator for the town of Port Hawkesbury. He was a veteran of WW 11 serving with 8th New Brunswick Hussars and Governor General Horse Guards. He was a member of Black River United Church and an adherent of St Mark's United Church, Port Hawkesbury. He was a member of Strait Receiving Vault Society, life member of Royal Canadian Legion Br. 43 and a member of American Water Works Association.
He is survived by daughter Lois (Dr. Ken) Musselman, Collingwood O.N. ; son Robert (Giselle) Dundee; sister Barbara Robinson, Northwood Manor, Halifax; brother Wilbert (Jeannie), Grand Anse; grandchildren Joey-Lynn, Darcy and Lyndall Musselman, Nathan, Scott, and Landon Urquhart, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Harriet (Peeples).
Visitation will be 7-9 Tuesday and 2-4 and 7-9 Wednesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home Port Hawkesbury. Legion service will be held 7 pm Wednesday. Funeral will be 11 am Thursday in St. Marks United Church, Rev. Wilfred Pelley officiating, interment in Southbrook Cemetery at a later date.
