Obituary of Carrie Stockley, RN
It is with great sorrow we announce the death on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, of a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital.
Born in Sydney, she was the eldest daughter of the late Ray and Mamie (Bryden) Mackley.
Carrie was a 1940 graduate of St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, Glace Bay. The majority of her nursing career was spent as an RN at Bay Medical Clinic, Glace Bay. Prior to her retirement she was an administrator at Buchanan Memorial Hospital, Neil's Harbour.
She was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Ingonish.
She is survived by her loving husband, Henry; daughter, Caroline MacKinnon MacLean, Inverness, Shelia (Brian) Roberts, Toronto; son, Robert (Keri) Stockley, Oshawa, Ont.; grandchildren, Shaelene, Shawn, Lisa, Craig, Jennifer, Jessica, Robynn; great grandchildren, Emily, Owen; sisters, Mildred MacNeil, Sydney, Jean (Charlie) MacInnis, Stoney Creek, Ont., Raylene Mackley, Sydney, Pauline (Pius) Campbell, Iona; brother, John (Genevieve) Mackley, Sydney; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy Dobranski, Helen Goucher, brothers, Reginald Mackley and Raymond in infancy.
No visitation. Funeral mass at 2 pm , Monday, Dec. 22 in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Fr. John Morrison officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
Family flowers only. Donations in memory to a Palliative Care Society of your choice.
