Obituary of Audrey Helen Hanlon

HANLON, Audrey Helen - 78, Port Hawkesbury, passed away peacefully in Northside Community Guest Home, North Sydney. Born in Saint John, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Ethel (Bartlett) McDonald. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Port Hawkesbury, and was employed at Dominion Food Store in Saint John, where she was a cashier. She was a dedicated mother, wife and grandmother, who devoted all her time to her family. She was actively involved in figure skating over the years, as well as bowling, curling and golfing. Audrey was a great storyteller and was proud to boast of her grandchildren. Anyone who knew Audrey will remember her daily walks around town and the Friday night dancing at the Legion. She was always ready for a good laugh and was the life of the party. She was one who was determined to press on and be courageous after her husband of 55 years unexpectedly passed away. She will be remembered and greatly missed by son, Bob (Connie), Ottawa; daughter, Kathy (Ken) Morine, Grantville; brother, Lloyd, Fredericton, N.B.; sisters, Gertrude Fowler, Comox, B.C.; Doris (Jack) Evans and Mary Butler, both of Saint John; Betty (Aurele) Tessier, Caledonia, Ont.; grandchildren, Kelly, Richard, Tracy, Lauren. She was predeceased by husband, Joe; brothers, David and George. Visitation was held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held 2 p.m. today in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Father Bill Crispo officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date.
