Obituary of Francis Levi George
GEORGE, Francis Levi 'Frank' - 84, Phillips Harbour died April 22, 2004, in Guysborough Memorial Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Phillip's Harbour, he was a son of the late William and Lillian (DeRabbi) George. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving as a Corporal in the North West Nova's in Italy, France, Belgium and Germany. He was a member of the former Queensport Baptist Church and an adherent of Canso Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, the former Jean Bennett Rhynold; sons, Kenneth and Brian, both of Dartmouth; Francis, Dennis and Bruce, all of Phillips Harbour; Eric and Kevin, both of Half Island Cove; daughter, Edna Marr, Canso; sisters, Murial Archibald, Denver, Guysborough Co.; Gertie Hart, Canso; brother, Howard, Phillips Harbour; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sister, Bertha Meeds; brother, Charles.
Visitation will be held from 2-9 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, both in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday in Canso Baptist Church, Rev. David Wheeler officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Guysborough. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Canso Baptist Church or Guysborough Memorial Hospital.
