Obituary of Jean M. Morrison
Morrison, Jean M. - 81, Blues Mills, born January 18, 1924 in Ireland, died Sunday, April 3rd, 2005 at the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. Jean was a daughter of the late Jock and Margaret (Allen) Muir who came to Canada with their young family. Jean's career started with being a school teacher, running a grocery store, a restaurant, secretarial work and she retired from the Michelin Tire, Granton Plant. She possessed of many talents, Jean was involved in music, painting, handcrafts and woodworking, & often used these talents in her community and church participation. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Blues Mills Fire Department Ladies Auxilary,and the United Church of Canada. Jean is survived by her children: Marilyn, Leonard, and Allan; three grandchildren; and her sister, Molly (George) Thiers in the USA. She was predeceased by her husband, Alex Morrison, Blue'sMills, a son, Rodger, an infant daughter, Eileen, and her only brother, Adam.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, 7-9pm, Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be held at 3pm Thursday in Forbes United Church River Denys, Rev. Fraser Mac Donald officiating. Burial in the Fir Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care & direction of Haverstock Funeral Homes. Jean's family would like to express their gratitude to the Staff of the Pt.Hawkesbury Nursing Home and also to the many good friends & neighbours in Blue's Mills, without whom Jean would not have been able to remain in her own home during the latter years of her life.
