Obituary of Joseph Archibald MacMaster
MacMASTER, Joseph Archibald ? 50, Bedford, formerly of Port Hawkesbury, died January 2, 2004, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII.
Born in Antigonish on May 10, 1953, he was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University and received his MBA from Dalhousie University in 1978. He was employed by General Motors of Canada for 25 years with positions in Moncton, Burlington, Vancouver and Halifax. Joe was an avid sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed football and hockey.
He was a son of the late Archie and Christena (Rankin) MacMaster. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lesley (MacKeigan); daughter, Ashley; son, Ryan; both of Halifax; He was a brother of Nancy (Dr. David) Stewart, Charlottetown; Larry (Laura), Colby Village; Rankin (Debbie), Bedford; Loving uncle to his nieces and nephews; dearly loved by aunts and uncles, Cassie Maclnnis, Port Hawkesbury; Marion Smith, Detroit; Steve and Carol Rankin Halifax; Larry and Brenda Rankin, Edmonton; Jessie MacIsaac, Ben and Wilma MacIsaac, Joanne and Angus MacDonald, Hamilton; Joe Rankin, Guelph; Sister Florence Rankin, C.N.D., New Victoria, Cape Breton. He was predeceased by brother, Gary; sisters, Donna and Jeanne (MacNeil).
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville St., Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday in St Josephs Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury, Father Bill Crispo officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only. If desired, donations may be made to the IWK Health Centre or a charity of choice.
