Obituary of Stanley Hewitt MacDONALD
MacDONALD, Stanley Hewitt - 80, South Cove, Victoria Co., formerly of Riverside Drive, St. Lambert, Que., passed away peacefully Saturday, November 19, 2005, in Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. He was born in Saint John, N.B., and was the adopted son of the late Angus N. and Annie MacDonald of South Cove. He was a well-known educator having taught throughout Nova Scotia and Quebec. He lived for many years in St. Lambert, Que., where he taught at Chambly County High School and retired to the family homestead in 2000 at South Cove. He was a proud graduate of Mount Allison University where he recently attended his 50th class reunion. He was made Mount A. Allisonian of the Week and had established the Stanley H. MacDonald Bursary for Nova Scotia Students. In July he attended the 50th anniversary of Chambly County High School, where he was greeted by hundreds of his former students and colleagues. He is survived by his family members, Jenny MacLean, Anna Matheson, Marion MacRae, Sadie Beeson, along with numerous cousins in the local area. Also surviving are goddaughters, Patricia Patterson and Kathryn Hart, Dartmouth, and Judith Hatt, Maple, Ont. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held in Little Narrows Presbyterian Church, Saturday, November 26, at 2 p.m., Rev. Ron Sharpe and Dr. Douglas MacEachern officiating. Burial in the family plot to follow. Family flowers only. Memorial donations in memory of Stanley may be made to L'Arche, Cape Breton or Stanley H. MacDonald Memorial Bursary at Mount Allison University.
