Obituary of James Lawrence MacIsaac
MacISAAC, James Lawrence - 71, Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home, formerly of Frankville, died Tuesday, February 22, 2005, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Inverness, he was a son of the late Dan R. and Mary (Ryan) MacIsaac. He was a former member of St. Ninian's Cathedral, Antigonish, and a former member of St. Paul's Parish, Havre Boucher. Jim was active in community affairs and was one of the founding members of the Havre Boucher and District Volunteer Fire Department, and was the first Fire Chief; first chairman of the Havre Boucher Medical Centre; past secretary and former president of the Greenwold Go-Getters Club; and an avid horse racing fan - owned and drove many race horses throughout the Maritimes. He was also a past member of the Nova Scotia Harness Commission and the United States Trotting Association. Surviving are sons, Ryan (Diana), Dartmouth; Jamie (Lisa), Springhill; sister, Chris Parker, Weymouth, Mass.; brother, Douglas (Jessie), Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador; grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Christopher and Kristen. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Fougere; brother, Danny; sister, Ann.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday in St. Paul's Centre, Havre Boucher with funeral mass at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Havre Boucher, Father Robert McNeil officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. No flowers by request please. Donations in memory of Jim may be made to St. Martha's Regional Hospital or St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church.
