Obituary of Daniel Joseph MacIntyre
MacINTYRE, Daniel Joseph - 85, Port Hawkesbury, died Wednesday, June 8, 2005, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Queensville, Inverness Co., he was a son of the late Archie and Catherine 'Cassie' (MacDonell) MacIntyre. Danny was a retired CEO for the Inverness County School Board. He was a manager in his earlier years of the former Port Hawkesbury Creamery and the West Bay Road Co-op. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Port Hawkesbury, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Cape Nova Council 7924. He was an avid antique car collector and possessed a wide range of mechanical abilities. He was an alumni of St. Francis Xavier University and a founding member of the Strait of Canso Yacht Club. He is survived by his wife, the former Doris (MacDonald); daughter, Anne Webb (Leo) Muise, Dartmouth; sons, Michael (Jeanette), Halifax; Leslie (Susan), Baddeck; sisters, Marcella Lasko, New York; Liz MacPhee, Burlington, Ont.; Sadie Taylor, Boston, Mass.; brothers, Francis 'Frank' (Do), Hamilton, Ont.; Roddie (Jean), Judique; grandchildren, Joanna, Robert, Jessica, Josh, Daniel, Grace, and Kathryn. He was predeceased by his son, Robert; brother, Johnnie; sisters, Annie and Margaret.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday with a vigil service at 8:30 p.m., both in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church with Father Bill Crispo officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
