Obituary of Louise Angela Landry

LANDRY, Louise Angela - 87, Havre Boucher, passed away peacefully with her family at her side in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish, on Friday, February 4, 2005. Born in Tracadie, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Annie V. (Benoit) Delorey. Louise graduated from Normal College in 1938, then went on to teach in Cape George, Fox Island and Cape Jack, before raising a family. She returned to teaching in the mid-1960s in Havre Boucher for several years. Louise was a member of St. Paul's Parish and the CWL. She was an avid quilt maker, donating many quilts to community fundraising projects. She was an active member of the Harbourview Seniors Club, serving on the executive for many years and also on the executive of the Nova Scotia Seniors and Pensioners Association. In 1994, along with her husband Leonard, she received the Nova Scotia Remarkable Senior Award. She is survived by Leonard, her loving husband of 62 years; daughter, Margaret Greene, Calgary; sons, Ignatius 'Nick' (Donna), Lower Sackville; Sylvester (Joyce), Gerard (Millie), both of Havre Boucher; grandchildren, Troy (Cathy), Trevor (Sonia), Tracey, Matthew, Brian (Jennifer), Andrew; great-grandchildren, Tenaya, Dillon, Jessica; sisters, Veronica Brow, Havre Boucher; Sister Edna Delorey CND, Montreal; Sister Mary Delorey CND, Larry's River; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sister, Lillian Cantwell; brothers, Clarence, Walter, and Roland; son-in-law, Harold Greene. The family would like to thank Antigonish and Area Homemaker Service for their long-time support. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in St. Paul's Centre, Havre Boucher. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, in St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, with Father Robert McNeil officiating. Donations may be made to Antigonish and Area Homemaker Service or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
