Obituary of Sheldon MacKenzie

MacKENZIE, Sheldon - 57, West Bay, Inverness Co., died Sunday August 15, 2004, in Strait Richmond Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving mother and family. Born in Sydney, he was a son of Johanna Jessie (MacLean) MacKenzie, West Bay, and the late Duncan John MacKenzie. Sheldon will be remembered for his dry humour, sharp memory and quiet demeanor. He was a long haul trucker, contractor, machine operator and member of International Union of Operating Engineers. He is survived by daughter, Candace Torey, Lime Hill; son, Chance Sheldon, Lime Hill; sister, Beverley Leonard, West Bay; brothers, Kenneth, West Bay Road; Steven (Joan), Fredericton, N.B.; Wayne, West Bay Road; Ivan (Vickie), Lime Hill; long-time companion, Ann Ranson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in West Bay United Church with Rev. Bill MacLennan officiating. Burial in Lime Hill Cemetery.
