Obituary of Sheldon MacKenzie
MacKENZIE, Sheldon - 57, West Bay, Inverness Co., died Sunday August 15, 2004, in Strait Richmond Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving mother and family.
Born in Sydney, he was a son of Johanna Jessie (MacLean) MacKenzie, West Bay, and the late Duncan John MacKenzie.
Sheldon will be remembered for his dry humour, sharp memory and quiet demeanor. He was a long haul trucker, contractor, machine operator and member of International Union of Operating Engineers.
He is survived by daughter, Candace Torey, Lime Hill; son, Chance Sheldon, Lime Hill; sister, Beverley Leonard, West Bay; brothers, Kenneth, West Bay Road; Steven (Joan), Fredericton, N.B.; Wayne, West Bay Road; Ivan (Vickie), Lime Hill; long-time companion, Ann Ranson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in West Bay United Church with Rev. Bill MacLennan officiating. Burial in Lime Hill Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Sheldon may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Strait Richmond Hospital Palliative Care.
