Obituary of Edna Amelia Gray
GRAY, Edna Amelia - 84, Port Hawkesbury, formerly of Gabarus, died Saturday, August 21, 2004, in Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. Born in Gabarus, she was a daughter of the late John S. and Sarah E. 'Nellie' (Gray) MacGillivary. She was a homemaker and a member of Zion Wesley United Church, Gabarus. For many years, Edna was a valued choir member and member of the UCW, and an adherent of St. Mark's United Church, Port Hawkesbury. Edna was dearly loved by everyone: family, friends, nursing home staff, nurses and residents. She loved music, entertainment and games. Edna was so happy and full of life that she made everyone around her happy to be alive. She will be forever in our hearts. She is survived by son, Wesley (Margie Keefe), Port Hawkesbury; sisters, Marjorie Reid, Gabarus; Ada MacDonald, North Sydney; numerous nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Kenneth Bell, Kimberly Hamilton, Wesley (Wanda) Gray, Blair Gray, Amanda Gray, Gregory Gray (fiancée Holly MacIntyre); great-grandchildren, Courtney, Daniel and Bryson Hamilton, Bobby, Colin and Austin Bell. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth; daughter, Dorothy Bell; sister, Evelyn Bagnell; brother, John and a brother in infancy.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today, funeral service, 2 p.m. Tuesday, both in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury, Rev. Marion Conrad officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Gabarus, at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Edna may be made to Zion Wesley United Church or Lakeview Cemetery, Gabarus.
