Obituary of Irene Sofia Davis

DAVIS, Irene Sofia - Port Hawkesbury, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Comox, B.C., she was a daughter of the late Charles E. and Alvina (Sanderson) Nordin. She was a graduate of Dobells School of Business, and served on the executive of the Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 43, Port Hawkesbury. Irene was a charter and life member of Starlight Chapter 66 Order of Eastern Star. She was a kind and generous person who was loved by all and known to her children as 'the most wonderful mother in the world'. She is survived by daughter, Norine, Fort McMurray, Alta.; sons, John P. Jr. (Paula), Port Hawkesbury; Alexander (Donna), Bedford; Richard (Gaile), Halifax; James, Port Hawkesbury; Robert (Karen), Port Hawkesbury; sisters, Edith Rigby, Gloria (Dave) Draper, both of Sidney, B.C.; brother, Charles (Eleanor) Nordin, Courtenay, B.C.; grandchildren, Logan, Emma, Craig, Neill, Aileen, Tyler, Jason, Brian, Holly, Heidi, Kyle, Caitlin, Sarah, John; great-grandson, Tyler. She was predeceased by her husband, John P. Sr.; sister, Vera Murray; brother, Harry Nordin. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday with Eastern Star service at 7 p.m., both in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Mark's United Church, Port Hawkesbury, Rev. Wilfred Pelley officiating. Burial will be in MacLean's Cemetery, Port Hastings at a later date.
